I'm Sara, the owner of Serpent Divers, a boat hull cleaning company built around one simple idea: taking care of boats while enjoying the presence of time spent below sea level.

Long before I was scrubbing boat bottoms, I was the kid who could spend hours flipping over rocks in tide pools looking for strange little sea creatures and staying in the waves long past pruned fingers and frozen toes. Somewhere along the way I became mildly obsessed with nudibranchs (the tiny, wildly colorful sea slugs that look like fabulous aliens), earned my Rescue Diver certification, and eventually found myself working professionally underwater.

Before starting Serpent Divers, I worked as an Underwater Bridge Inspector and commercial diver/ tender for ECM Engineers. Using surface-supplied diving equipment, SCUBA, underwater photography, and engineering CADs, I helped inspect bridges and marine structures throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Every project was different. Some days meant strong currents, poor visibility, changing tides, or squeezing into places most people never get to see. It taught me to stay calm under pressure, work methodically, and respect the water every single day.

Outside of work, diving has taken me all over the world. I've descended into the legendary Blue Hole in Belize, swam alongside bull sharks in Playa del Carmen, explored sulfur-filled cenotes in Tulum, drifted over fields of rare blue coral in Okinawa, and freedived to shipwrecks off the coast of Cozumel. Every dive reminds me how incredible—and important—our underwater world really is.

When I'm not diving, you'll usually find me restoring my 1982 Helms 27 sailboat, building the stages for your favorite artists at big concerts along the East Coast, creating art for businesses and loved ones, photographing marine life, or planning the next adventure beneath the sea.

Starting Serpent Divers has felt like a natural next step. Boat owners deserve someone who genuinely enjoys being underwater, understands marine environments, and takes pride in doing meticulous work. A clean hull doesn't just look better—it helps improve fuel efficiency, reduces drag, protects your investment, and gives you a chance to spot potential issues before they become expensive repairs.

Whether you own a sailboat, powerboat, or a well-loved dinghy, my goal is simple: provide honest, reliable underwater service while treating every boat as if it were my own.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll follow along as I share tales from the depths, weird creatures I encounter, strange objects found under boats, and a behind-the-scenes look at life as a working diver.

See you below the surface.

Fair winds,

S
